Four weeks fully dedicated to the sneaker world.
The summer session is composed by two weeks with a deep dive into the fashion sneaker to be followed by two weeks on athletic sneakers. A fascinating journey within a style that, at this point, has become a category of product on itself.
The program will develop the two main construction categories – board-lasted and strobel – the two techniques with which the geat majority of snekaers, fashion and athletics, are made.
Two are the key factors that distinguish fashion sneakers that we see in re-known luxury brand stores from the ones that we see on athletes’ feet: pattern making and materials used.
For the fashion world we shall study the laced-up styles with a slip-on construction, we shall deepen materials most commonly used for uppers and outsoles for luxury footwear. We shall discover all the techniques to personalize design so to create iconic products. To conclude, we shall examine the study of knitted uppers and the never-ending opportunities that it offers.
For athletic footwear, we shall analyze the characteristics that shoe constructions must have, based on different sports. We will understand how creative professional together with shoe technicians from the biggest sport brands, have designed some of the most significant products, getting into material details and finishings used to achieve higher level of performance.
