The extensive and intensive program responds to the training needs of those who want to maximize their education in the bag domain in a short time by acquiring technical, design and practical skills that will support opening their own workshop, working for a specific brand or become an expert of this fashion’s leading sector.
Students will enter the bag world starting from the technical aspect: 10 different bag constructions will be taught and 4/5 styles of these will be prototyped by students in the school Lab.
Visits to factories, show rooms and specialized trade fairs exhibitions will be organized to give a complete view of the accessory sector.
With a strong understanding of the production process, students will approach design starting from hand sketching and will also learn 2D rendering. The course will simulate a collection development process so students will develop a mood board, complete sketches together with materials and colors, a merchandising plan to finalize the class by presenting their collection.
The collection developed may be the starting point to launch the individual’s brand or a development of the portfolio.
To complete the training and really deep dive into the accessory world, students will be followed through the production of 3 bags whose style will not be developed during the initial Pattern Making and Prototyping class.
In this way, within the 17-week semester program students will develop 7/8 prototypes of different constructions and styles. During each phase of the prototyping process, while they will cut, skive, glue, stitch, they will learn from Italian professional bag pattern makers/prototypers and stitchers.
